Technology has been around for generation all forms and shape. I was assigned in class to work on a work sample which uses 3D printing. I was always fascinated by the idea any type of texture or material can be used to make a design which you worked on. I was assigned to make a tool or game that students can use in class. The design is still incomplete, but the main point is having 3D printing embed in the curriculum of classes.  Ron Smith said that “being able to bring those designs to life with a 3D printer adds a whole new dimension to the student experience.”

The impact of 3D design is different than the other components of teaching. It’s another dominion that can attract the students and let them explore the technology other than computers and phones.  Smith says. “It’s important that they learn to do technical drawings and to use the Inventor software, but when you make it come to life with the 3D printer and they can touch it and feel it, they want to do more and learn more.”  The new components of the 3D printing can help students with special needs because for example a student who can’t see can feel the design. The feelings of an artifact in an art class or history class.

3D printing is quite easy to fit into may classes. 3d designing can fit well into math or physics, art, history and even science. In math students can design objects to test a theory such as weight, distance and gravity. Similarly, it can be used in science to have students design organ and have them have a closer look at them. It can even be an activity so students can use the software to work as groups to make an organism or cells. Using 3d printing is well rounded if you say because it can use in art class to design structures that they designed on paper. A positive outcome of 3d printing is it can be used in many classes and many topics.

The idea of 3D printing it is that it’s very universal because many students of all ages can learn how to use it and even have help to use it. Many activities an be group projects and it can help students learn leadership skills, critical thinking, arts and stem topics and lessons.
